Knowledge for All e' un nuovo progetto cooperativo di accesso alla
conoscenza.

Librarian Mark Leggott at the University of Prince Edward Island reached a
breaking point when he was informed a leading research database was
doubling its subscription fees. “Large corporations are making huge
profits off publicly funded research, libraries are paying the price, and
knowledge still remains closed. There's nothing stopping us from creating
our own tools.”

Leggott's response was to cancel the university's subscription and begin
developing an open access alternative called Knowledge for All. Building
on the open access publishing and open source software movements,
Knowledge for All will harness the expertise of librarians and software
developers worldwide to create a free, collaborative alternative that can
better meet the needs of its users. While commercial databases are limited
to a specific subject area and a limited set of journals, Knowledge for
All will span all disciplines and cover all published journal literature,
providing researchers with a single comprehensive search tool. Unlike
other free commercial research tools, such as Google Scholar, Knowledge
for All's data will be public domain.
