[Oa-italia] Indicizzazione e reperimento degli IR

Ho chiesto a Barbara Tillett, The Library of Congress, alcune 
delucidazioni circa l'indicizzazione e il reperimento degli IR. Mi ha 
risposto poco fa con una lunga lettera, di cui riporto una frase che 
credo sia utile per il dibattito in corso sulla lista.

"Access to resources may be through an OPAC or through a separate search engine or both.  The Library of Congress has several digital repositories of our own - some of which are accessible through the OPAC, and others have started up ad hoc and we are trying to get better control over them for the library as a whole.  There is also an initiative at LC to develop an XML Datastore to manage all of the digital collections".
