SciELO Announces the Availability, Indexing and Publishing of
Academic</b></div>
<div><b>eBooks from Brazil</b></div>
<div>SÃO PAULO, March 2013 - SciELO, a major indexer and publisher
of Open Access online journals,</div>
<div>announces <span>SciELO Books </span>(<a
href="http://books.scielo.org/en">http://books.scielo.org/en</a>),
a collection of quality peer-reviewed Open Access</div>
<div>and commercial ebooks in the Humanities, Social Sciences and
Public Health from selected university</div>
<div>presses and other academic publishers in Brazil. The scope of
the collection will progressively broaden</div>
<div>as university presses and academic publishers from other
countries in Latin America and the Caribbean</div>
<div>join..</div>

<div>Currently there are over 300 ebooks available for download and
this number is expected to grow by more</div>
<div>than 500 titles per year. SciELO believes in open standards and
that users should be free to read on any</div>
<div>device, so the ebooks are being made available in ePub and PDF
formats with the option to download the</div>
<div>whole ebook or just individual PDF chapters.</div>

<div>This new ebook operation was launched in March 2012 with three
founding members - the presses of the</div>
<div>University of the State of São Paulo (UNESP), the Federal
University of Bahia (EDUFBA) and Fiocruz in</div>
<div>Brazil. The addition of the presses of the State University of
Paraíba (EDUEPB), the State University of</div>
<div>Londrina (EDUEL) and the Federal University of São Carlos
(EDUFSCar) has brought the total to six</div>
<div>presses. New presses are continuously being added to the SciELO
Books collection.</div>

retailers to broaden availability of the</div>
<div>SciELO content to the global community.</div>
