*OAI11 *– *The CERN-UNIGE Workshop on Innovations in Scholarly
Communication will be held at the University of Geneva, June 19th-21st 2019*

The 11th meeting of the OAI community for developments in Scholarly
Communication is taking place at the University of Geneva, 19-21 June 2019.
The theme of the 2019 Workshop is: *Open Science – its impact and potential
as a driver for radical change*

OAI meetings are one of *the* Open Access/Open Science meetings in Europe
in the year in which they are held. Their aim is to engage all stakeholders
in the scholarly communications chain in debate and discussion around
current developments and to identify new development paths and ways to
collaborate and share.



The OAI11 Scientific Committee is pleased to announce that the full
Programme for this Workshop is now published.

We have 2 Keynote speakers during the Workshop. Professor Bernard Rentier
will talk on evaluation processes in an Open Science environment. Dr
Jean-Claude Burgelman will close the 3-day Workshop with a paper entitled: Open
Science: what has been done so far in EU policy and what is left.



The opening sessions of the event comprise a series of 6 separate Workshops.

·         Discovery and FAIR writing: new tools, no walls

·         Retaining and sharing research notebooks

·         Sea change in Research: Collaboration next to Competition

·         Bullied into Bad Science: Envisioning a fairer, more open and
ethical research and publication environment

·         How to flip a journal to (fair) Open Access

·         Plan S implementation by institutions and libraries

infrastructures

·         Copyright

o   Looking at Exceptions, Free Licensing and Public Domain at Wikimedia,
IPR implications of 3D printing

·         New Initiatives and Studies in Open Access Book Publishing

o   Looking at the popularity or otherwise of OA monographs in North
America, a roadmap for OA monographs in Europe, OA E-Book usage, Towards a
European network for OA monographs

·         Text and Data Mining (TDM)/Discovery

o   Looking at metadata for OA discovery, the role of repositories,
Unpaywall, enabling a global discovery experience

·         Research Evaluation and DORA

o   Looking at Funder perspectives, how perspectives on OA publishing
determine policies, Research Assessment and DORA, cultural change

·         4 x 15 minute communications from attenders:

o   Looking at Author attitudes to OA books, medRxiv in the health
sciences, copyright legislation in Belgium, implementation of Plan S in
Italy

·         Preprints/archiving/dissemination of early-stage outputs

o   Looking at the scientific ecosystem in Indonesia, new models of peer
review, preprints, building services on top of repositories

·         Beyond the known Known

o   Looking at why and where researchers are publicising their work before
publication, talking science though videogames, Re-thinking Scholarly
Communication with Artificial Intelligence, Citizen Scientists and
Artificial Intelligence
