Dear colleagues,

 

In case you have not already seen the press release, I am pleased pass along news that the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Max Planck Society have entered into a new transformative agreement which will enable 100% of Max Planck Society research articles to be published open access in ACS journals and, at the same time, enables the Max Planck Digital Library to immediately shift their investments from supporting paywalls to supporting open access dissemination of research.

 

The agreement is an exemplary illustration of how scholarly societies can partner with libraries to test new economic models that enable societies to continue their highly-valued work while transitioning to a future-oriented model of scholarly communication.
