[Oa-italia] APS si unisce a SCOAP3

L'American Physical Society che inizialmente si era tirata indietro 
quando è partita l'iniziativa SCOAP3 ora ha deciso di parteciparvi, 
segue comunicato stampa del CERN e della APS.

SCOAP3 Newsletter SCOAP^3 News: APS to join SCOAP^3 from 2018

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research 
<http://press.cern/press-releases/2017/04/cern-and-american-physical-society-sign-open-access-agreement-scoap3>, and 
the American Physical Society (APS) 
<http://www.aps.org/newsroom/pressreleases/scoap3.cfm> announced today 
that they entered into an agreement for SCOAP^3 . Under this agreement, 
high-energy physics articles published in the three APS journals 
Physical Review C, Physical Review D and Physical Review Letters will be 
open access as from January 2018.

All authors worldwide will be able to publish their high-energy physics 
articles in the three journals at no direct cost. This will allow free 
and unrestricted exchange of scientific information within the global 
scientific community and beyond, for the advancement of science. This 
extension increases now the number of participating journals 
<https://scoap3.org/phase2-journals/> to 11 that jointly cover about 90 
percent of the journal literature in the field of high-energy physics.

APS CEO Kate Kirby commented

long supported the principles of open access to the benefit of the 
scientific enterprise. As a non-profit society publisher and the largest 
international publisher of high-energy physics content, APS has chosen 
to participate in the SCOAP^3 initiative in support of this community.”/

The announcement coincided with the publication of the 15,000^th SCOAP^3 
article <https://repo.scoap3.org> since the start of the initiative in 
2014. SCOAP^3  is a global partnership 
<https://scoap3.org/participating-countries/> comprising 3’000 
libraries, funding agencies and research organisations from 44 countries 
and 3 intergovernmental organizations.  In cooperation with leading 
scientific publishers and learned societies, SCOAP^3  has supported the 
transition to Open Access of key journals in the field of High-Energy 
Physics. SCOAP^3  serves more than 20,000 scientists from 100 countries 
that benefit from publishing their articles Open Access free of charge.
