[Oa-italia] COAR Next Generation Repositories Project- Gruppo di lavoro internazionale partecipa anche l'Italia

In occasione dell'ultima conferenza annuale di  COAR- Confederation of 
Open Repositories, che si è tenuta a Vienna il 12 -13 aprile scorso, si 
è costituito un gruppo di lavoro internazionale per contribuire a 
individuare le funzionalità e le tecnologie  da sviluppare per rendere 
gli archivi aperti  più rispondenti ai bisogni di un ' interoperabilità 
"webcentrica" e per elaborare una ROADMAP per l'adozione de nuovi servizi.

Si tratta di lavorare per implementare una nuova generazione di 
repository che tenga  conto di tutti cambiamenti avvenuti negli ultimi 
15 anni dall'affermazione di  Google, ai social networking, al  web 
semantico, alla tecnologia mobile; pertanto gli archivi aperti futuri 
forniranno  una serie di servizi a valore aggiunto per meglio 
rispondere  alle esigenze di collaborazione, disseminazione dei  
ricercatori.
Il gruppo condividerà i primi risultati dell'analisi  all'interno della 
comunità dei repository per ricevere commenti, osservazioni e produrrà 
un rapporto finale agli inizi del 2017

e esperti mondiali tra cui i fondatori dell' Open Archive Initiative, ma 
anche due istituzioni italiane Cineca e CNR con i colleghi :

*COAR Next Generation Repositories Project*

The nearly ubiquitous deployment of repository systems in higher 
education and research institutions provides the foundation for a 
distributed, globally networked infrastructure for scholarly 
communication. However, repository platforms are still using 
technologies and protocols designed almost twenty years ago, before the 
boom of the Web and the dominance of Google, social networking, semantic 
web and ubiquitous mobile devices. In order to leverage the value of the 
repository network, we need to equip them with a wider array of roles 
and functionalities, which can be enabled through new levels of 
web-centric interoperability.

The vision behind this work is to position repositories as the 
foundation for a distributed, globally networked infrastructure for 
scholarly communication, on top of which layers of value added services 
will be deployed, thereby transforming the system, making it more 
research-centric, open to and supportive of innovation, while also 
collectively managed by the scholarly community.

In April 2016, COAR launched a working group to help identify 
functionalities and technologies for repositories and develop a roadmap 
for their adoption. The group will share preliminary results with 
repository and scholarly communities in order to validate 
recommendations and ensure community input. The aim is to have a final 
report published in early 2017.
