*FP7 post-grant Open Access publishing funds pilot webinar*
Join the OpenAIRE webinar to learn more about FP7 Post-Grant Open Access
Pilot.
The European Commission has launched the FP7 Post-Grant Open Access
Pilot earlier this year, https://www.openaire.eu/postgrantoapilot, to
fund Open Access publishing fees for publications arising from finished
FP7 projects through the OpenAIRE project. As well as for Book
Processing Charges, this Pilot provides funding for Open Access Article
Processing Charges (APCs) for FP7 projects up to two years after they
end. This FP7 Post-Grant Open Access Pilot provides an additional
instrument to improve access to research results from FP7 projects, but
does not affect authors' choice on how their project publications are
made Open Access.
As of Sep 30th, 52 funding requests have already been granted by this
Pilot to researchers and projects across Europe and beyond
(https://blogs.openaire.eu/?p=530), but there are still numerous
countries where no funding requests have arrived from so far.
Learn about the pilot’s basic features, technical requirements, early
results and other criteria for funding requests.
The webinar will be led by Pablo de Castro, from LIBER, the coordinating
institution for this FP7 Post-Grant OA Pilot, and will have two parts.
The first part will address the following topics:
* How the FP7 Post-Grant Open Access Pilot works;
* How organizations can work with LIBER and OpenAIRE in order to
support the Pilot implementation;
* How to use the central service at
https://postgrantoapilot.openaire.eu/ for collecting and processing
funding requests for Open Access publishing fees developed by Athena
Research Centre and the University of Athens. This system collects
the FP7 project information and the publication metadata for every
request together with the information about the payments. Requests
are then approved or rejected according to the Pilot requirements.
Based on the information collected in the system, reports can be
produced on granted requests and payments by institution, publisher,
project, country or discipline. The service, which requires previous
registration, has been fitted with different roles, such as
researcher, moderator, institutional library, publisher or project
coordinator among others;
* How to ensure that working procedures are appropriately aligned
across institutions in different countries;
* How to team up with LIBER for dissemination purposes.
The second part of the webinar will be a Q&A session where any questions
about this FP7 Post-Grant Open Access Pilot will be answered.
