*Status of Open Access as of March 31, 2013*
Recent figures from major Open Access data providers in both green and
gold, point to an increased growth as of 31st March 2013. The following
sources map the global picture of the present status of Open Access and
these include Open Access Scholarly Publishing
Association<http://oaspa.org/>statistics, Directory
of Open Access Journals <http://www.doaj.org/> (DOAJ) statistics, Björk et
al <http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0011273>.,
and Gargouri et al
<http://eprints.soton.ac.uk/340294/1/stiGargouri.pdf>studies, Peter
Suber's<https://plus.google.com/u/0/109377556796183035206/posts/iSR2spVGFUL>analysis,
and the comparative analysis of major service providers. The
specific figures are given below;-

*OASPA Statistics*

According to the data submitted by Open Access Scholarly Publishing
Association (OASPA) members, a total of 252,418 articles were published
with the CC-BY license <http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/> until
the end of 2012.

*DOAJ Statistics*

The Directory of Open Access Publishing (DOAJ) announced at the beginning
of the April 2013, that more than 1 million articles are now searchable in
DOAJ - which means more than 1 million article-level metadata entries are
available for harvesting.
*Open Access uptake between scientific disciplines*

The two most relevant studies providing estimations for the uptake
differences between disciplines are Björk et
al.<http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0011273>,
and Gargouri et al <http://eprints.soton.ac.uk/340294/1/stiGargouri.pdf>.
In summary the graph below shows their comparisons of open access by
disciplinary growth.
